Getting the most out of the logbook

The logbook helps keep track of both business and private trips in a structured and tax-compliant way. Its management can be managed either through the mobile app or directly through the web portal, depending on operational preferences and workflows.

Getting started

The logbook can be accessed through the web portal in a browser. Although mobile access is supported, reviewing and managing larger amounts of data is generally more comfortable on a desktop or laptop device. This setup is particularly useful for administrative work and more detailed trip analysis.

Recording trips

Trips can be recorded in different ways depending on operational preferences and setup.

BETA Automatic Logbook

The automatic logbook records trips without manual input based on GPS data whenever a journey starts and ends. Drivers can be assigned later, and trip types can be adjusted if necessary. All entries remain editable, while changes require a reason for compliance purposes.

Manually

Trips may also be created or edited later manually. If GPS tracking is disabled, all trip details including locations can still be managed manually. Logbook manual

Export

A PDF export of the logbook in a certain time frame can be done at any time. Depending on requirements, exports can either include standard trip data or a complete audit log. Logbook export

Troubleshooting

If automatic trips are missing, you can check:
  • Privacy settings: Make sure location sharing is enabled in your vehicle’s system. If only general vehicle data is shared, location data won’t be available.
  • Data package: Ensure your vehicle has an active subscription (e.g. “VW Connect Plus”) that includes GPS data.
  • Permissions: Confirm that all required permissions (vehicle status, location, trip data) are enabled in your account. If needed, reconnect the vehicle.
